Soaring Social Buzz

Soaring Worldwide’s marketing executive James Brown on being shortlisted for two major social media awards.

It has been a year since I first walked through the doors at Soaring Worldwide and in that time I have had some memorable moments, but none more so than hearing we had been shortlisted for two awards in a field where I do a lot of my work.

To be frank, social media is integral in business these days and if you aren’t using any of the many social channels available then you are missing out. Soaring Worldwide were already very good socially before I got here but, as a team, we have had some great success with clients over the past year. We worked hard on our social media campaign for The Meetings Show 2015 and we were thrilled when we picked up a bronze award recently.

We were shortlisted for ‘Best Social Media Campaign’ at the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) and were also up for the ‘Best Low Budget Campaign’ at the UK Social Media Communication Awards. Although we didn’t win the latter, we were really happy to be shortlisted because we were up against some pretty big names across the board. The MIMA award now takes pride of place in the office and it really is something we can all be proud of considering it was the first social media category we had ever entered.

Naturally, as the ‘social media guy’ at the company, I’m really excited that we were recognised but in truth everyone has done their bit to make it happen and has made my life a lot easier when it comes to our social media activities.

The best part of all of this for me has been the amount I have learnt socially over the past year. I have tried to put my own spin on clients’ social activity to hopefully improve upon what is already there but the clients themselves have also helped me to improve my own skillset. There’s always something new to learn in the world of social media and I’m looking forward to hopefully another year of success.

It’s safe to say we celebrated with a bottle of wine (or two….) and I’m sure we will be toasting the social buzz once again in the near future!
