Preview event celebrates HIC’s new stars

As the £13 million project to increase capacity at

Harrogate International Centre (HIC) nears completion, a host of event organisers and buyers were invited to preview the new halls via an out of this world space themed experience.

The construction of Halls H and G has created two new stars at the North’s largest conference centre enhancing HIC’s reputation as a leading events destination. Capacity at the venue has been increased by 20% and features include:

•    Additional 3,100m2 exhibition space •    Banqueting capacity of 1,500 guests •    Underground car park •    Spectacular new entrance •    Excellent green credentials

Alison Griffin, head of sales and marketing at Harrogate International Centre, says: “Eighteen months after work started on the development of the new halls it is great to be able to show existing and prospective clients how they can benefit from the new spaces. The preview event was a great success, attended by more than 65 buyers including many new clients, and we’ve had some very encouraging feedback. We’re now looking forward to holding the first event in the new halls in January.

“The creation of Halls H and G is very exciting as it increases our ability to cater for all manner of events. There is seamless flow from our 2000 seat auditorium to the new halls which will benefit our corporate and association clients. The halls also add more exhibition space to our existing offer and are a great place for banquets.

“For organisers choosing HIC, not only is the venue ideally located – halfway between London and Edinburgh – but the halls provide them with the space to hold a wider range of experiential events, banquets, corporate productions and product launches. Our aim is to offer the best facilities so organisers can deliver world class exhibitions and events. The improved facilities will help raise the region’s profile as a place to do business and ensure the venue remains at the forefront of the events industry both nationally and internationally.”
