Today we meet with Sarah Carless, Senior Account Manager at Soaring Worldwide.
I’ve been working at Soaring Worldwide now for two and a half years and have really enjoyed my time here. On a day to day basis, my role involves account management; contacting clients and attending client meetings, creating strategy and PR campaigns, writing press releases, award entries and blogs and scouring industry publications for news. I have a lot on my plate but I enjoy being really involved with clients so I don’t mind the work that comes with it. I am also involved in the sales side of the business and have been successful in converting a number of potential client leads, which I am very happy with.
I started at Soaring Worldwide as a Reputation Manager, working closely with Adam, our MD, on client strategy and PR campaigns, sales and general PR. Moving forward, I took on more clients of my own, managing specific accounts and therefore took on a larger workload. I was promoted back in June to my current position and am enjoying the responsibilities my role comes with.
Originally, I studied Journalism at University and subsequently got a job as a Journalist within a newspaper. My time there was valuable as it allowed me to understand just how fast paced industries in the media can be – something I would be grateful for, coming into the PR industry! I then found Soaring Worldwide and my skills were promptly utilised, writing press releases, blogs and comment pieces for numerous clients on a daily basis.
I really enjoy the PR industry as it is fast paced and keeps me on my toes. Our clients are in many different industries; from meetings and events to telecommunications and security which means I get to learn about different sectors on a regular basis.
The most challenging thing about working in PR, and especially at an agency – is knowing how to prioritise all the different activities on each campaign for all the different clients we handle. It is difficult, but I think I’ve got it down to an art now!
The good thing about working with such global clients is that sometimes I get to visit them. As these clients are mainly convention bureaus, I have been invited on a few familiarisation trips to get to know the area we are working with which has been pretty amazing.
Soaring Worldwide is a creative and innovative PR agency and it caters to its clients needs. We often tailor our services around a particular clients needs and have created new and excited services, like our Industry Insights –to give them additional quality of service.
When I’m not at work, 99% of the time I’m at home with my horse, Bailey or riding him in equestrian competitions. We’ve won numerous rosettes together and I enjoy spending my time looking after him and keeping an eye on his naughty antics!
