Certification International sees increase in information security certification

Certification International, a leader in the assessment and certification of international, national and industry standards, says it has experienced a dramatic increase in demand for certification from companies wanting to meet information security standards.

Since 2008, the number of certificates issued for ISO 27001 has increased 30%. The standard, which replaced BS7799-2, is the specification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and provides a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving the systems in place.

With increased interest in ISMS, Certification International recently held a workshop in conjunction with IT Governance, targeted at senior decision makers and information security professionals. The event was an opportunity for delegates to participate in a day of highly-informative talks, practical workshops and one-to-one advice sessions to learn how your organisation could benefit from ISO27001 information security certification and the steps that you need to take to implement an ISMS.

John Pymer, managing director of Certification International, comments: “In an increasingly competitive market place, to be seen as a trusted organisation is critical. We believe this significant increase in demand for certification can be attributed to companies seeing the benefits of conforming to internationally recognised standards.

“The aim of our ISO 27000 workshop was to provide organisations with practical advice about implementing an effective ISMS plan, and help them understand the benefits, by talking to internationally acknowledged experts in this field. The event was well attended and gave delegates an idea of what they have to do in order to achieve the standard.

“By working in partnership with our clients we can help more companies looking to implement ISO 27000 operations so they can benefit from achieving an internationally recognised standard.”
