ABPCO’s AGM welcomed new chairs Jo Powel and Kate Sargent (pictured) on Friday last week, who outlined the association’s plans for the rest of 2018 and beyond. Key targets include:
A continued focus on the associations key values of excellence, learning and belonging
Renewed processes to maintain the credibility of ABPCO membership
The development of a new member-focused website
Closer partnerships with the media, preferred partners and sponsors
Greater opportunities for members to share best practice and learning
The AGM also saw an increase in the association’s income to £108,738 for the 2017/2018 financial year, which led to an £18,374 surplus. Outgoing chairs, Therese Dolan and Rose Padmore highlighted the stability these figures give the association as part of a round up of their time in office.
“ABPCO is in a fantastic place, we are indebted to not just the immediate past chairs but also those who came before them for creating such a fantastic association with such an enthusiastic membership,” comments new joint chair Jo Powel (Macmillan Cancer Support). “I have learnt so much on my journey as an ABPCO member and feel that my time as chair will provide a real opportunity to give back.”
Kate Sargent, incoming joint chair (BioScientifica) responds: “When I took the time to get to know ABPCO I really felt I had found my home – despite running association events I finally realised the benefits of being an association member myself. Jo and I have big shoes to fill but we are excited about the opportunities for the future. We understand what it means to be a member and look forward to spending the next two years maximising the benefits for all our members.”
The AGM was preceded by a dinner at the Bluebird Café attended by over 100 ABPCO members. The dinner, which was sponsored by VisitBerlin raise over £2,250 for Meeting Industry Meeting Needs.
