LSO St Luke’s demonstrates CSR values through community music events

As part of its ongoing commitment to the local community,

LSO St Luke’s is giving a regular series of highly successful free concerts. The 45-minute LSO Discovery Friday Lunchtime Concerts which run throughout October and November this autumn are a part of the London Symphony Orchestra’s (LSO) education and community programme, LSO Discovery, which reaches 60,000 participants every year.

The events – which are entry-level and aimed at introducing people of all ages and backgrounds to different elements of music – attract a diverse audience including local residents and business people, as well as school children from the neighbouring boroughs who might not get the opportunity to attend musical performances.

LSO St Luke’s marketing manager Tomoyo Miyakawa comments: “We are committed to making our venue and events accessible to the local community. These concerts are a great way to introduce people to our live music experiences. It’s satisfying to see so many people, some of whom wouldn’t usually attend our concerts, enjoying what the LSO has to offer. The concerts are also an excellent opportunity for the community to see for themselves what LSO St Luke’s has to offer as a venue if they hire it for their own private events too.”

LSO St Luke’s is one of London’s most unusual event venues.  The 18th-century Grade 1 listed Hawksmoor church is used regularly by the London Symphony Orchestra for rehearsals and hosts concerts and music workshops throughout the year, as well as regular weekly opportunities to participate in choirs, gamelan and digital technology. LSO St Luke’s is also available for corporate and private events such as conferences, meetings and evening events with a capacity for up to 450 people.
