Buckinghamshire-based Lane End Conference Centre has been awarded Gold status in the IACC Green Star Certification programme.
The International Association of Conference Centres has a rigorous Code of Sustainability which includes 60 tenets in the following areas:
Education, Awareness and Public Declaration
Waste Management
Recycling
Reuse
Water Conservation
Purchasing
Energy Management
Air Quality
Food & Beverage
IACC monitors and updates the Code periodically in order to ensure that it reflects state-of-the-art best practices. Lane End Conference Centre recently underwent the assessment and has been awarded Gold status after adopting these environmentally responsible practices into business operations.
“It’s so important in this day and age that venues such as ours has a strong environmental policy and IACC’s Code of Sustainability enables us to do that,” comments Heni Fourie, Director of Sales and Marketing at Lane End Conference Centre. “We have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce the impact on the environment with simple but effective measures such as waste management and water conservation. As a member of IACC we want to make others aware and educate the importance of sustainability – something we take very seriously. The Gold award is a badge of honour for us and we are already looking at ways we can improve to achieve platinum status next year.”
