Sheepdrove Eco Conference Centre’s, Russell Downing recently received a scholarship to attend the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in New York , US. The two week course focused on the development of top levelhospitality staff from around the world and Downing was just one of three people from the UK to have been awarded a scholarship by the Master Innkeepers Association.
On his return to the UK, Downing was promoted to a new role, overseeing all elements of the Sheepdrove business. This includes the organic farm’s organic box scheme, several butchers’ shops and the Eco Conference Centre.
Downing comments: “My time in the US was challenging, educational and eye-opening. The course brought together hospitality professionals from across the world. During the two weeks we exchanged thoughts, ideas and strategies, whilst learning from some of the industry’s leading experts. Returning home to the promotion was the cherry on the icing – in the current economic climate my new role will be dynamic, exciting and a true test of all I have learnt.”
