Experts from the meetings industry as well as key vertical sectors have created a targeted education programme for The Meetings Show 2014 with streams dedicated to agency bookers, corporate planners, associations, pharmaceutical & healthcare, PAs and secretaries, technology and meetings design.
“We have once again sought the wisdom and experience of industry leaders to create a programme of genuine interest and value to our hosted buyers and visitors,” said The Meetings Show’s Event Director, Steve Knight. “Most importantly, we wanted to deliver content that was focused on the needs of key sectors organising meetings and events. Therefore, to ensure quality and relevance we co-created our content offering with leading experts working at the cutting edge of each sector.”
Highlights of the education programme include:
An agency booker stream covering topics such as ROI, pitching to corporates and working with international destinations.
The PA and secretary stream, which was co-created with Marion Lowrence of the PA Hub and includes: effective networking, public speaking and meetings management.
A technology stream created in conjunction with Maarten Vanneste from the Fresh Conference and Meetings Architecture. Ranging from meetings design and hybrid meetings to social media, apps and data security.
A panel debate focused on the role of women in leadership led by Jackie Mulligan, Principal Lecturer and Director of Enterprise, Leeds Metropolitan University and featuring: Yasmin Arrigo, Editor, Conference and Incentive Travel Magazine; Jacqui Kavanagh, Managing Director, Trinity Event Solutions; Pat Durocher, CEO & Founder, Global Cynergies LLC; and Ellie Barnett, Leeds Metropolitan University.
A dedicated Association Meetings Conference on 7 July at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, which will focus on the successful organisation and delivery of association events, featuring a wide variety of high profile international speakers from associations, AMCs, PCOs and corporate planners.
Other experts creating the programme and delivering content led by Sally Greenhill of the Right Solution include: Joanna Lawlor, Global Events Director, AstraZeneca; Michael Foreman, Head of External Relations, ABPCO; Linda Pereira, Managing Director of CPL Events; Mark Handforth, Director, 360 Event Consulting; Bruno De Man, Corporate Marketing Manager, European CanCer Organisation ; Patrick Delaney, Managing Partner, Soolnua; Richard Waddington, Chair, Event Marketing Association; and Elling Hamso, Managing Partner, Event ROI Institute.

Knight continues: “Once again our own research, as well as the advice from our expert Education Panel, highlighted the need for knowledgeable relevant speakers rather than celebrity keynotes with little or no relevance to meetings and events. Our programme responds directly to these needs as do more than 40 Meet The Expert sessions, which were a huge success last year, and this year cover a range of subjects including compliance, content, best practice, supplier relationships, marketing and PR.”
The Meetings Show is a major event for the UK inbound and outbound meetings industry, organised by Centaur Exhibitions and taking place 8-10 July 2014 at Olympia, London. Organised by meeting professionals for meeting professionals it is focused around a large exhibition, networking opportunities and professional education.
