One of South Wales best kept secrets is providing corporate clients with the opportunity to take guests back in time.
Caldicot Castle, founded by the Normans and developed as a stronghold in the Middle Ages, has a romantic and colourful history making it an ideal location for corporate events. The castle has a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as access to more than 60 acres of parkland, which can accommodate a wide range of activities, from team building experiences to product launches and photoshoots.
One of the latest additions to its corporate offering is a Medieval Banquet, where food is served on stoneware platters and eaten using daggers, with the menu based on ingredients available during the Middle Ages. The feast is accompanied by a full evening of musical Medieval Entertainment. The Medieval Banquets are held in the Banqueting Hall, which has a capacity of 80 people, or in the Guard Room which caters for 25 guests. And the initiative is already proving popular.
Louise McGuinness, of the Castle Events Team at Caldicot Castle, comments: “Caldicot Castle is possibly one of the most authentic venues where organisations can take their guests back in time. We have seen a growing number of corporate clients booking events at the castle and it is particularly popular with companies organising team building days. The Medieval Banquet is a great extension to our events offering, and for those who are really wanting to get into the spirit of the evening, costumes can be supplied and archers will entertain guests in the form of a traditional tournament before the feast. Initiatives like this are a great way to reward and celebrate staff achievements or they can be built into a team building experience that creates a unique night to remember.”
