BMA House strengthens sustainability support for event organisers with EVENTsmart and retained ECOsmart Platinum status

New carbon reporting support, renewed top-tier accreditation, and an evolving food and drink offer reinforce BMA House’s practical approach to more sustainable events.

BMA House is continuing to build on its long-standing sustainability commitment with the introduction of EVENTsmart, Greengage’s carbon measurement platform, giving clients clearer reporting on the impact of their events and access to more specialist support on carbon reduction. The platform is designed to measure emissions before an event takes place, helping organisers make more sustainable choices from the outset.

The move marks another step forward in BMA House’s approach to practical, client-focused sustainability. Rather than treating sustainability as an add-on, the central London venue is focused on making it easier for organisers to understand impact, identify improvements and deliver events that align with their own environmental goals. This next phase is designed to give clients more clarity, more confidence and more expert guidance throughout the planning process.

At the same time, BMA House has retained its ECOsmart Platinum accreditation, the highest level of Greengage certification. The renewal reflects not only continued progress, but also the increasing depth of the assessment process since the venue first achieved Platinum in 2022, with broader consideration now given to areas including employee wellbeing and EDI.

Hannah Robinson, Venue Manager, BMA House said: “Sustainability has to be practical if it is going to make a real difference. For us, that means giving clients clearer information, better support and realistic ways to reduce impact without compromising on experience. EVENTsmart strengthens that offer, while retaining ECOsmart Platinum shows that our own standards continue to evolve too.”

BMA House’s wider sustainability programme continues to shape every part of the guest experience, from energy and waste initiatives through to food, drink and delegate wellbeing. The venue has reported a significant reduction in delegate carbon footprint since 2018, continues to source renewable gas, fuel and electricity, and has also received repeated industry recognition for its sustainability performance.

That same thinking is increasingly visible in BMA House’s hospitality offer. The venue has seen a marked rise in alcohol-free choices, supported by alcohol-free bars and a broader range of premium soft drinks. Alongside its low impact DDR and wider sustainable catering initiatives, BMA House is continuing to respond to changing client expectations around health, moderation and more considered event choices.

Robinson added: “We know organisers want venues that can combine credibility, flexibility and genuine support. Our role is to help them make informed choices, whether that is through carbon reporting, more sustainable menus, low and no alcohol options or simply sharing ideas that can reduce waste and improve outcomes. That is what meaningful progress looks like for us.”

It’s great to see venues like BMA House focusing on sustainability and smarter event solutions. I attended a small conference once where eco-friendly planning made everything feel more thoughtful and organized. At the time, balancing studies had me wondering if I should Hire Someone to Take My Associate Class just to manage everything. Posts like this highlight how intentional choices can improve both experience and impact.
