Barbican marks 35th anniversary with cultural ‘Firsts’ and offers to bookers

One of the world’s leading conference and international arts venues, the Barbican Centre, based in the heart of the City of London, celebrated its 35th anniversary this month.

To mark the occasion, the leading international venue launched a digital collection of 35 of its cultural ‘Firsts’ from the last three and a half decades. The ‘Firsts’ demonstrate the impact of the Centre on the UK’s cultural landscape and represent all the Barbican’s art forms – music, theatre, dance, visual arts and film – as well as its creative learning programme. The Barbican is also offering one free delegate space for every thirty-five spaces that are booked as part of a package, such as Day Delegate Rates and summer parties, taking place in May or June 2017.

In 2016, £2.2million was invested into the facilities at the Barbican to strengthen its position one of the world’s leading international arts centres.

“We are delighted to be celebrating 35 years at the Barbican and what better way to show our clients than to give something back with this offer” commented Jackie Boughton, Head of Business Events at the Barbican. “We made significant changes last year to the venue to improve excellence in both the business events and the cultural sides of the business, and it’s worked. Further to the improvements to the facilities, the extra attention has seen a surge in interest and enquiries for available event spaces across the Barbican and we continue to exceed our targets.”
